supporter stories

  • It’s easy to show your support for our campaign. And as you can see, you don’t have to be 16 to play your part. Up and down the country, people of all ages, in all walks of life are joining in – from MPs and local councilors to parents and teachers.
Baroness Hayter of Kentish Town, Labour peer,
"From 16 to 18, young people take some big decisions about their own lives. Where (and what) to study, or where to work and whether to train; often whether to marry or move and, for many, whether to start a family. This is surely also the time they should be able to vote for the people to represent their interests on local councils, in parliament, or in the European Parliament. Decisions to taken in any of these bodies, or in the Scottish Parliament, Welsh Assembly or by Mayors, will affect them more than us oldies. So give them a say – and the responsibility which goes with it". Send your story
