"From 16 to 18, young people take some big decisions about their own lives. Where (and what) to study, or where to work and whether to train; often whether to marry or move and, for many, whether to start a family. This is surely also the time they should be able to vote for the people to represent their interests on local councils, in parliament, or in the European Parliament. Decisions to taken in any of these bodies, or in the Scottish Parliament, Welsh Assembly or by Mayors, will affect them more than us oldies. So give them a say – and the responsibility which goes with it".
