  • It’s easy to show your support for our campaign. And as you can see, you don’t have to be 16 to play your part. Up and down the country, people of all ages, in all walks of life are joining in – from MPs and local councilors to parents and teachers.
John Hamilton
"I just think it's right for all British citizens to have a say in the government of our country. As a teacher in secondary schools for many years I have known a lot 16/17 year olds who are genuinely interested and concerned in the running of the country and as well equipped to exercise the right to vote as many who are over 18. (Of course there are many who are not interested - but they will hopefully develop better attitudes later, and are more likely to do so if some of their peers take up their responsibility)".

"There has to be a dividing line somewhere for the exercise of full citizenship: I think the age of responsibility - being able to get married, being able to leave education and becoming a tax-payer - and the right to vote should all be the same: 16 years. Those who do not wish to exercise some of these rights should not prevent those who do wish to do so". Send your story
